(OOC: Adacari Intro Post) Adacari entered the amphithetre through one end, and looked up in the stands. Row upon row of seats, and no one to watch her first battle but the human and the snack she had brought for her. No matter. Word would spread, and soon the seats would be full of things to watch her battles, to marvel at her strength and size. She stretched out each leg, and carefully curled up her tail. True to her word, she wouldn't paralyze the wolfonfly that was to battle her. Well, unless it lost, then she would wrap it up in her tail and drag it away to the prize cage. Her blue tongue licked her lips, leaving smears of acidic saliva as she thought about the wolfonfly. A beautiful soft blue Lucid, with a cat-like tail. The tail was especially important to her, she didn't care to crunch on the hard tails that most Lucids had. She stood quite patiently, head up and compound eyes focused on the other end of the amphitheratre, where her challenger would enter from.

A girl walked into the ampithetre, her head held high. Today she wasn't her usual hyper carefree self. She knew what chance she was taking today. Since the tale of the stupendously large nightmare had reached her she'd been intrigued, interested. She seeked her out, and Adacari had spoken to her in her suprisingly graced voice. As she had glanced at the cages of prizes she offered, she couldn't imagine one of her wolfonflies possibly ever ending up there, not if she could help it. But then two of them caught her eye-particularily upset natures in them. She had to try to free them. She looked at the wolfonfly at her side. Slate. He was one of her most strong-willed wolfonflies and one of many she had raised since he was an egg. That was why she had picked him out...And it was possible that she believed the fact he was a feline wolfonfly would make him more clever in battling. Besides the fact that he would be imprisoned-or eaten- if he lost, she really really wanted to win....It would be a bad sign if the first challenger lost. As they walked closer, she had to hold her voice strong, bowing a little to the great nightmare. "I am sorry we are late, Adacari.." She put a hand on Slate's head, who's tail was bushing out wildly, anticipating the action of battle. He was ready. Once she was given any sign of approcal, Salki edged backward a distance to give the two room, looking around in awe. This scenery was just like a setting right out of a Pokemon gym battle...Except for in Pokemon there was no huge risk involved. Your Pokemon woldn't be doomed if you lost.

(OOC: Adacari's first attack, you decide if it hits or not.)
Adacari smiled as she saw the challenger, and she too bowed, although not quite as deep, a small lowering of the head to acknowledge her. "No matter, you gave me time to stretch and prepare." She said, her cyan eyes focusing on Slate, noting his every move.
As soon as Salki backed away. she struck, without any warning as was her custom, suddenly running toward Slate with the speed of about a horse cantering, her top speed. She reached out a leg suddenly, and brought it down where she judged Slate to be, hoping to pin him down.
(OOC: As well, sorry for the delay, and the short post.)

Slate let out a surprised bark as the large nightmare came toward him. He forced himself to stand perfectly still, though all instinct said to get away. As soon as her leg went up he dove to the side, except her leg did catch his tail for a moment but he pulled it away quick as he turned about and tried to sink his claws into her leg thinking the legs of a nightmare were a vulnerable spot and it was the closest thing-the only close thing-to him.

(OOC: Adacari's second attack. You decide if it hits or not)
His claws didn't sink in as he expected however. Rather, they bounced off. The legs of a Nightmare seemed to be made of the same thing as their skin, which was more like the exoskeleton of an insect than skin. The hit did make her trip a bit, and a wide smile formed on her mouth. Finally, something with a little fight in it! This was much better than hunting, where all she had to do was wrap her prey in her tail.
Her tiny wings flapped as she jumped suddenly, taking her just out of the range of his claws. She opened her mouth, extended her tongue, and shook, scattering her flesh eating acid in all directions. The jump had been to distract her challenger, and its purpose was to put him off balance so he wouldn't notice the acid.

He grunted in a bit of surprise as he jumped backward, his whiskers twitching in frustration. He saw her move again and instantly turned to make sure to keep her in his sight at all time. Then he felt a searing pain at his ear and he let out a yowl as he felt acid eating a gap in his ear. He took a step to the side and nearly put his paw in a puddle of it- before he realized what had happened and took a step back, putting his eyes up to Adacari's huge compound eyes. He remembered a line from a book Salki had read outloud to him and a few others when they were still pups. "Keep your eyes on your opponent's eyes, not the sword. For the sword lies, but the eyes are ever truthful." He hoped the same would count for the eyes of a nightmare and acid as the weapon. Keeping his eyes on hers, he began beating his wings, he could feel something weighing them down-had some acid gotten on one of his wings? But atleast he was up and he kept a safe levitating level above the ground, trying to plan his next move accordingly.
Salki gripped her jeans in worry as he watched the fight. "Watch yourself Slate!" She couldn't help yelling as her wolfonfly lifted up a bit.

(Slate lost, and has been added to Adacari's account. Better luck next time. You may reply once more if you want.)
Adacari calmly watched the creature, and just as calmly swallowed her acid. No good to melt him, then she wouldn't be able to use him as a prize to entice more owners into challenging her. Quick as a snake striking, she lifted her head, reached out her tongue, and wrapped Slate in it. Before her acid came back, she craned her head around, uncurled her tail, and transferred him there. She felt him go limp as the venom took effect.
She turned back to Salki, and bowed again. "Better luck next time." She said softly, almost seeming to mean it as she turned and walked away to toss Slate into the prize cage. The venom would wear off in about an hour.
